Pulmonary Fibrosis-Bronchoscopy Diagnosis Without Surgery

The diagnostic approach of interstitial lung disease requires evaluation of many parameters.
A diagnostic stage of high importance is getting transbronchial biopsies (lung parenchyma biopsies) for which we used common biopsy forceps.
A new acquirement of our interventional team is the cryo-probe through which we can get transbronchial cryo-biopsies. Their main difference from common biopsies lies to their size, which is about 0.5 cm and allows the diagnosis of diseases like idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis that needed until now surgical biopsy.

The cryoprobe applications are not limited to transbronchial biopsies but give us the ability for debulking central tumors, as well as endobronchial cryo biopsies, that increase the possibility of diagnosis in endobronchial cancer with necrosis.
